Bunnell House Auditions!

The Winona County Historical Society in partnership with Theatre du Mississippi is once again casting roles for their summer productions at Winona’s historical Bunnell House.

Veteran playwright, Lynn Nankivil, is writing a second one act play around the life of Lafayette Bunnell that will open June 18. Judy Myers will direct the production which includes performances running six weekends (as well as Monday, July 4) with three shows per day running through July 24. Due to its popularity, last year’s piece, The Hired Girl Gets Married, will be remounted by returning director, Paul Sannerud, with performances beginning July 30 and running three weekends through August 14.

Auditions will take place Friday, April 8 from 7 – 9pm and Saturday, April 9 from Noon – 2pm. The auditions will take place at the Winona Masonic Temple Theatre at Main and 5th Street (2nd floor). Directors are looking for actors who can play multiple roles and possible musical instruments, especially piano. Roles include 3 males (1 who plays multiple roles and 1 who plays multiple ages of the same character) and 1 female (who plays multiple roles including a young Dakota woman). All performers are paid a stipend of $200/week for two weeks of rehearsals and $125/weekend for performances. Actors should prepare a short monologue, a short a cappella song, and musical piece on their instrument (if applicable). Actors will also be required to read from the scripts.
